G’day, I’m Troy Star. I'd like to share some of my background with you. I was born in Brisbane, Australia, on April 4, 1971. How’s this? I share the same birthday as David Blaine, how cool’s that?! David, call my people for the double celebration birthday bash, let’s make it happen!! ![]() I live in Roppongi, Tokyo's club district – and have been based there for the past 5 months. Ten years ago in 1998, I got into magic. Six months after learning my first few tricks, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Magic Castle in Los Angeles. That experience blew my mind and had a huge effect on me. Immediately, I started working on a routine and landed a job performing tricks dressed as Elvis. The character’s name was Elvis Copperfield and EC turned out to be a big hit, pulling in regular gigs at the Hard Rock Café. Everything fell into place quite magically for me from that point on and I have worked as a magician ever since. It’s a real buzz performing magic. People are really amazed by it and it’s easy to get caught up in the hype and live off that buzz. The first trick I ever learnt was a trick where you vanish a cigarette behind your thumb. I remember showing some ladies at a local bar. They went wild with amazement and asked if they could BUY ME a drink. I remember thinking at the time; this is something I could get used to! The best way I’ve found to learn magic is to plug into the local magic shop and buy DVD's on the subject. Once I started doing magic, I met numerous other magicians and started trading tricks. I have about 100 tricks. I have performed for dignitaries, celebrities and countless groups of people over the past ten years. In fact, you may have already caught the show. I work the restaurants on the Gold Coast most nights - in Broadbeach and Surfers Paradise. If you have seen me perform, I’d love to hear from you. Send me an email and tell me what you thought of the show. If you’re not sure if it was me or not, I was the guy wearing the flashing star and I probably stole your watch.
Thanks for taking the time to go over my site and I hope to meet you personally on tour in 2009 at an upcoming event. If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to email or drop me a line. Until then, take care and remember to "fake it till you make it". All the best, Troy Star |
